In developed economies leasing is widely used and is considered the most effective means of financing business activity. The scale of this sector is impressive: annual turnover in the leasing sector in the U.S. amounted to $208 billion in 2003 for equipment alone [1] and 193 billion euro in Europe [2]. By comparison, leasing in Russia in 2003 amounted to only $1.28 billion [3].
