The beginning: 1999 Europlan was set up in Rostov-on-Don where a group of businessmen founded a regional leasing company, which subsequently received the name Europlan.
The first success: 1999 Just six months after its launch, Europlan had a liquid, high-quality portfolio of leased equipment.
The start of expansion: 1999 At the end of 1999 Europlan opened branches in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Ekaterinburg.
Car leasing: 2000 Having established itself as the leader in the market of leased equipment for SME’s, the company started to operate in vehicle leasing also.
US GAAP: 2000 Europlan introduces accounting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and undergoes audit by PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Expansion 2nd stage: 2001 Company expands its activity, by opening branches in Nizhny Novgorod and Samara.
Team expansion: January, 2002 At the beginning of 2002 the number of Europlan employees doubled compared with the same period in 2001, largely due to the hiring of young financial services professionals.
First international creditor: February, 2002 Europlan received its first long-term foreign credit of $10 million from EBRD.
Europlan - IFC: May, 2002 IFC (the investment arm of the World Bank) provided Europlan with $10 million in long-term financing.
Expansion 3rd stage: 2003 The launch of a branch in Krasnodar. As a result, the company covered all the main economic centers in the European part of the Russian Federation.
US ExImBank: February, 2003 Europlan receives a credit with guarantees from US ExImBank.
BSTDB: November, 2003 $5 mln for 3 years from Black Sea Trade and Development Bank.
New shareholder: November, 2003 Realizing the attractiveness of investing in the financial services sector, the investment fund Baring Vostok Capital Partners decides to acquire the company from the financial group Delta Capital.
Equity: December, 2003 Europlan’s equity increased 150% compared to the beginning of 2003 and reached $15 million.
1000th deal! : March, 2004 Europlan closed its 1000th transaction.
Europlan Today!: May, 2004 The company decided to build up a new strong independent federal brand. Therefore company changed its name. Instead of DeltaLeasing the company was renamed as Europlan.
Award: July, 2004 Europlan was rated the most dynamically developing leasing company in 1999-2003 and was also deemed the market leader for work with small companies according to the magazine “Leasing Review”, which is respected in the leasing community.
A credit from DEG: July, 2004 German investment company DEG and Europlan signed a credit agreement for 7.5 million euro for 6 years.
Multiple currency portfolio: August, 2004 August – the first transaction in Euro, September - the first transaction in rubles. Now the Company can boast of leasing products in three currencies.
A credit from OPIC: August, 2004 OPIC provided Europlan with $30 million for 7 years. Europlan became the first Russian leasing company financed by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.
Expansion 4th stage: September, 2004 At an annual meeting of Europlan’s top management in Sochi a decision was reached on further regional expansion and the opening of 18 additional regional offices by the end of 2005.
Repeated financing: December, 2004 The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development extended a $15 mln. loan to Europlan. This was the first repeat long-term financing that Europlan received from a first class western creditor.
M&A: December, 2004 Europlan bought 100% of RolfLeasing (Joint-Stock Company « Firm Calvin »), thus becoming the undisputed leader on the Russian car leasing market.
A second shareholder: January, 2005 a private equity fund managed by Capital International, Inc. made an investment of $10 million in Europlan and became a minority shareholder.
Equity: February, 2005 Europlan’s equity reached $28, 480 million. Europlan entered the Top 5 most capitalized companies in the leasing market.
Further expansion: 2005 In the end of 2005 Europlan has opened branches in Voronezhs and Ufa, increasing their quantity to 26. The most developed regions of Russia have been covered.
Europlan closes its first syndication with EBRD : February, 2006 Europlan has closed a US$40 million syndicated loan today. EBRD (The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development) led the syndicate of 6 large international banks under A/B Loan structure whereby EBRD remains the lender of record.
Equity: July, 2008 Europlan's equity amounted to USD 120,000,000 received a USD 60,000,000 boost.
EBRD-Europlan: July, 2008 The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development provided Europlan with a long-term credit of USD 600,000,000.
Additional financing: August, 2008 Leasing company Europlan obtained financing of USD 75,000,000 in a form of Senior Secured Amortising Term Loan Facility.
Regional expansion: September, 2008 Europlan leasing company opened a representative office in Orel.
Professional ranking: December, 2008 According to the analytical review «Leasing market in 2008» (made by the rating agency Expert RA on 3rd quarter results), an independent leasing company Europlan has remained №1 in automobile segment (cars and automotive as a whole).
Professional ranking: November, 2008 According to the European Federation of Leasing Company Associations, LEASEUROPE, Europlan has taken the first place among Russian companies and is 38th in Europe in volumes of automobile and self-propelled transport leasing.
Professional ranking: January, 2009 Europlan was considered the largest leasing company in Russia by both quantity of clients and number of contracts concluded in the previous year, according to association Rosleasing (a member of Leaseurope).
Bond issue: February, 2009 Europlan leasing company paid off a whole coupon yield on interest bonds 01-series.
Award: April, 2009 Europlan was awarded by magazine «Finans.» the prize - «For small and medium size business support 2009.
Award: May, 2009 Europlan was nominated "Russian financial elite 2009", the 5th annual prize, for its "Client-orientation" and “Effective development strategy”.
